For a few days during my thru-hike of the PCT, my brother and I hiked through baaad smoke from the 33,129 acre "Emigrant Fire". We often joked, "well, I've been smoking joints this entire time..."

Cigarette Equivalent Dose
In May 2024, the EPA lowered the primary annual $PM_{2.5}$ standard from $12.0$ to $9.0 \mu g/m^3$. This tool uses the updated linear interpolation breakpoints.
1 Cigarette ≈ 22 μg/m³ per 24 hours.
Dose = (Conc / 22) * (Hrs / 24)
The baseline for an adult is $6 L/min$. We calculate the multiplier $M$ as:
M = Activity L/min / 6 L/min
Data for "STEEP HIKE" ($60 L/min$) and "Sprinting" ($150 L/min$) is sourced from clinical CPET standards.
